Marylin Monroe under the photographer’s gaze at the Caumont Art Centre in Aix-en-Provence
From October 19, 2016 to March 12, 2017
Marilyn Monroe is incontestably the most photographed star in the history of cinema.
Immortalised by some of the best photographers of her day — Richard Avedon, Eve Arnold and Andre de Dienes — she became an icon who would inspire artists such as Andy Warhol, Willem de Kooning and Salvador Dalí.
This exhibition presents some of the most memorable shots of the actress, including the legendary photographs from "The Last Sitting", taken a month before Marilyn’s death, by photographer Bert Stern.
A woman with a thousand faces and a highly complex personality, the star reveals herself to be both playful and secretive, charismatic yet absent, but always incredibly sexy.
